Restore Through the Workspace
- Open Free App Lock and sign in to the profile that contains the file’s record.
- Match the record’s full path to the application you mean to allow. Refresh its state if needed.
- Select Unlock EXE and enter the management password again when requested.
- Read the completion message. Once access is restored, open the target normally if you want to use it.
A Moved Original Is Different from a Replacement
For a Missing record, use Locate & unlock to identify the same original file. The picker can show all files when the extension was renamed. The manager checks file identity; it does not transfer an old access record to an unrelated replacement.
After a move or a parent-folder permissions change, the restored file keeps its original explicit permissions and inherits according to its current folder. Read the result rather than assuming the old folder’s inherited permissions were preserved.
When the File’s Content Changed
The same original file may have been written or updated while retaining its identity. A successful restoration can include a content-change warning. Verify that software before running it. Restoration itself never automatically starts the target.
When Restoration Stops
Unexpected identity or permissions changes need investigation. Keep the vault, kit and original file intact; do not clear a record just to make the list look empty. Review changed-state guidance or contact support with the exact message and private paths removed.
